10 Uses For Castile Soap Around The House

Castile soap is made from plant oil, differentiating it from other commercial soaps that use chemicals and animal products. It’s earth-friendly, bio-degradable, and easy to use. You can find castile soap easily in about every health food store or some regular grocery stores. If you’re wondering how to use castile soap for different purposes, this guide will give you ten such uses.

Make Your Own Cleaning Spray

There’s nothing better than an all-purpose cleaner you can use on about every surface. Guess what? Castile soap is perfect for that. It’s gentle enough to use on any surface but strong enough to clean the tough areas. It won’t even irritate your skin in the process. Here are two recipes for making an effective all-purpose cleaning spray :

  • Mix ¼ cup castile soap to 1 quart of warm water and stir it well. Pour the solution into a spray bottle, and you’re good to go.
  • You can combine 1 part vinegar with 3 parts water and add a squirt of castile soap for more tough areas. Now pour the solution into a bottle and spray on the tough spots.

Use It As A Body Wash

You can use this natural foamy soap on its own as a body wash. Just like other shower products, just a squirt of castile soap on a wet washcloth will do the trick for you. If you want to add other active ingredients, you can add Vitamin E oil, almond oil, or any other essential oil of your choice.

Shampoo For Your Furry Friend

Just add a part of castile soap to 3 parts of water to shampoo your dog. Castile soap remains gentle on the skin and adds shine to their fur.

DIY Dish Soap

Not only will castile soap make washing dishes less expensive, but it will also take care of your hands without causing damage to the skin. Just add 5 parts warm water to 1 part castile soap and wash that whole sink of dirty dishes like magic.

Deter Ants With DIY Castile Soap Mixture

Ants don’t love castile soap as much as you do. That’s why you can use castile soap to deter ants. Just add ¼ cup of castile soap and 3 to 4 drops of tea tree oil to 1 quart of warm water and stir it. Now pour the mixture in a spray bottle and spray on the countertops or wherever you see ants. Keep this mixture away from the plants as it could easily burn them.
