How To Get Rid Of Mold And Mildew

Mold and mildew are common problems in homes. They’re not just annoying to look at, they can also cause breathing problems for people who have asthma or allergies. Mold and mildew seem like they would be easy to get rid of, but they can be surprisingly difficult to eradicate. Luckily there are some easy ways that you can get rid of mold and mildew in your home with products you already have around the house! This blog post will share some different ways to get rid of mold and mildew from your home.

Vinegar

Mold and mildew can be easily removed using vinegar. All you need is a bottle of white vinegar and some spray bottles. Fill the spray bottles with vinegar and spray the areas where you see mold or mildew. The vinegar will kill the mold and mildew and will also help to prevent them from coming back. Make sure to test the vinegar on a small area of the surface first to make sure that it doesn’t damage the surface. It’s important not to use vinegar on marble, granite, or any other natural stone surfaces.

Acetone And Water

Another useful way that you can get rid of mold and mildew is by mixing acetone with water in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on areas where you see mold and mildew growing and wait for it to dry. Just like the vinegar, make sure to test this mixture on a small area first before applying it onto larger surfaces. Acetone is very flammable so make sure not to mix too much at once and avoid using it near any open flames or heat sources.

Bleach And Water Solution

You may also use bleach and water to eliminate mold and mildew from your house. Just make sure not to use too much bleach, especially if you have light-colored carpets, as the strong chemicals may discolor them. Use this mixture to scrub areas affected by mold or mildew before rinsing it all off with warm water. This solution will kill existing mold and mildew while preventing new spores from growing in your home. Just make sure to spot test this mixture on an inconspicuous area first just in case there are any negative reactions.

Lemon Juice And Salt

All you need to do is mix two tablespoons of lemon juice with two cups of water along with three teaspoons of salt. Mix these ingredients together thoroughly until the salt is dissolved and then spray the mixture onto areas where you see mold or mildew growth. The salt will help to kill off the mold and mildew while the lemon juice will prevent the growth of new mold and mildew from occurring.
